Version 1.0.0 Live now
New
- IESDesk is now version 1.0.0.
Improved
- The privacy notice and the terms now state how the Generate quality check uses your files and how long it keeps them.
Version 0.38.0
New
- With an API token, you can now upload files for Edit, change their metadata, start the export and download the ZIP.
Improved
- New comparisons and the scene pictures show the light colour that the file states. A file that states "ww" now shows "Warm white (ww)", not "3000 K". When a file states no colour, the Wall scene of Compare says so.
- The Edit page, the metadata sheet and Generate refuse a new invisible control character or line separator in a value.
Fixed
- The email verification and product news confirmation buttons now work also before the page has fully loaded.
- A change from a second tab can no longer reach an export that already started.
Version 0.37.0
Improved
- With an API token, you can now get the results of IES View, LDT View, Lighting Scenes, and Compare as JSON.
Fixed
- A Wall Wash request with an API token now gets its JSON answer with any Accept header.
Version 0.36.0
New
- Add isolux lines and a distance grid to Open area, Street, Bollards, and Wall scenes, including scenes in View.
Fixed
- View, Compare, and report sheets now show clear fallback text when a file contains figures too large to display.
Version 0.35.0
Improved
- Every page with scene choices shows the same scene cards, with a drawing, a name and a short description. On the Lighting Scenes start page, Corridor is now one of the cards.
Version 0.34.0
Improved
- Report sheets draw their diagrams in the Minimal style of the Diagrams page.
- A Floodlight report sheet shows the cone diagram when the beam is round. Other floodlights show the isolux diagram at a 5 m or 15 ft setback.
- On the Report page, choose the sheet type on the sample sheet cards.
- On a phone, the Lighting Scenes choices scroll in one row, so the upload box sits higher. Upload buttons are easier to tap.
- Scene warnings are clearer. Street and Open area figures say that they are not an EN 13201 or EN 12464-1 calculation.
Fixed
- In Generate, "Rows by output format" counts only the rows that write files, and each row shows the format that it writes.
- The Room scene no longer shows an empty "For a closer result" hint.
Version 0.33.0
New
- Lighting Scenes has a Stairs scene. See how riser lights on a straight stair light each tread.
- In Generate, a Format column chooses IES, LDT or both for each row. A Family column puts variant files in ZIP folders.
Improved
- App and tool pages use the full screen width. Scene settings now sit above the result.
- The Near field warning now shows only when a point is very close to the luminaire, based on the luminous size in its file.
- In the 3D views, drag to rotate and scroll to zoom.
Version 0.32.0
New
- In Lighting Scenes, turn on Shape to see the light shape at each luminaire. Reset view now sits next to the view buttons.
Improved
- Report sheets now use standard PDF fonts, so every PDF reader shows all the letters with no font warning.
- In Output filename, type a name without the extension. IESDesk adds .ies or .ldt to match the file.
Version 0.31.0
Improved
- The Enterprise page now offers bulk IES and LDT generation and custom API integration.
Version 0.30.0
Improved
- Compare 2 or 3 IES or LDT files in the same lighting scene. See their light distributions, figures and polar curves below. Each scene uses the same settings and brightness scale for every file.
Version 0.29.0
Improved
- Lighting Scenes now shows the 3D picture and the figures for many more files. Where the picture is rough near a sharp beam edge, a "Simplified picture" badge and the point readings say how far off it can be.
- When a luminaire is close to a wall or the floor, or when IESDesk cannot confirm the figures, the scene still shows, with a note that says so.
Version 0.28.1
Improved
- We now get an alert within 10 minutes when files are refused often, so we can help sooner.
Version 0.28.0
Improved
- See the 3D light distribution and a lighting scene on the same page without another upload.
Version 0.27.3
Improved
- When a tool cannot use a file, IESDesk now counts the message that it showed, with no file name and no file content. This helps us answer your questions about a message faster.
Version 0.27.2
Fixed
- Lighting Scenes now calculates road luminaires and other files with fine angles in Open area, Street and Room. Before, these files got the message that the scene needs more samples than the calculation limit permits.
- Street now shows the 3D view for road luminaires.
Version 0.27.1
Fixed
- The privacy notice now names the right number of status checks.
Version 0.27.0
Improved
- IESDesk now keeps an encrypted copy of your data each night, in the EU, for up to 31 days.
Version 0.26.2
Fixed
- The Download CSV button on the BUG Rating and ULOR job pages no longer fills the whole card.
- On a phone, the Update preview button of the diagram theme editor no longer fills the whole width.
Version 0.26.1
Improved
- The home page summary that search engines show now speaks to manufacturers who keep IES and LDT files.
Version 0.26.0
New
- Learn explains the average, the minimum, the maximum and uniformity, and how spacing and mounting height change them.
Improved
- Lighting Scenes shows a layout drawing for each scene before you upload a file.
- Open area, Street, Bollards, Room, Corridor and Wall each have a page in Lighting Scenes.
- Wall is now a Lighting Scenes scene. The old Wall Wash address opens that scene.
- In Lighting Scenes, a corridor keeps its 3D view when the room takes a little longer to calculate.
- A blank Wall in feet starts at 10 ft high, 3 ft from the wall and 3 ft between luminaires.
- The home page now speaks to manufacturers who create and maintain IES and LDT files. Diagrams, ratings and report sheets come before Compare and Lighting Scenes.
- The About list in the top menu is About IESDesk, What's new, Enterprise and Contact.
Version 0.25.0
New
- Lighting Scenes previews your IES or LDT file in Open area, Room, Street, Bollards and Corridor. Search regular room layouts against light-level and uniformity targets. The figures show direct light only.
- IESDesk now offers Free and Enterprise plans. Free includes 100 files per batch or job and the Minimal diagram style. Enterprise adds higher limits, branded report sheets, all diagram styles and custom themes.
Improved
- Compare Free and branded report sheets on the Enterprise page. Open each example as a full PDF.
- Existing accounts start on Free. Saved assets remain, and accepted jobs keep their original limits and settings.
Version 0.24.0
Improved
- Wall Wash shows softer light on neutral surfaces. Preview six colour temperatures from 2200 K to 6500 K. Adjust viewing brightness without changing your file or calculated figures.
- Use buttons to zoom, rotate and tilt the 3D views in IES View, LDT View, Compare and Wall Wash.
Fixed
- IES files with a leading UTF-8 marker no longer show a false missing-version warning. Original file bytes stay unchanged.
Version 0.23.0
New
- Compare shows a 3D view of each file, side by side. All views use one scale, so a stronger light looks bigger and brighter. Turn one view, and the others turn with it.
Improved
- Compare draws one polar diagram for each file, and all diagrams use one scale in cd/klm.
- The IES View and LDT View pages have two new buttons: "Wall wash of this file" and "Compare with other files". Each one takes your file along, so you do not choose it again.
- You can drop a file onto the report logo field of your account, the sheet field of "Edit in a spreadsheet" and Send feedback.
- IESDesk keeps no IP address and no browser details when you sign in.
Fixed
- A file name with unusual characters no longer gives an error page when you upload it.
- The manifest.csv and rejected_files.csv files show Turkish file names correctly in Excel.
- In a long row, Wall Wash names the right luminaire for the figure "At the foot of the wall".
Version 0.22.0
New
- Wall Wash: see how one luminaire, or a row of up to 20, lights a wall from the ceiling. A 3D room shows the light on the wall and the floor, with the figures and the EN 12464-1 wall uniformity.
- Send feedback takes up to 3 screenshots or short GIF recordings, so you can show us a problem. Only the IESDesk team sees them, and IESDesk deletes them after 30 days.
Improved
- Your account is better protected: a sign-in ends after 30 days without a visit, you confirm your email address with your password on the page that the email link opens, and a password reset signs you out on every device. IESDesk asks for your password before it closes an account.
Fixed
- Compare shows each file with the angles it stores. One luminaire can look turned by 90° from one file to another, and a note on the page tells you why.
- Redraw on the IES View, LDT View and Diagram pages works for files above 3 MB.
Version 0.21.0
New
- Compare keeps each comparison in Your files when you are signed in. The files stay 30 days, and the names and figures stay after that.
- The top menu has an About list with About IESDesk, What's new and Contact.
Improved
- The home page, the Features page and the About page name every tool, Compare and the UGR Table included.
Version 0.20.0
New
- Compare shows 2 or 3 IES or LDT files side by side, with a table of figures and two polar diagrams on one scale. IESDesk keeps no copy of the files.
- Compare warns you when an IES file may face another direction than the other files. It also shows the field angle next to the beam angle.
- The What's new page lists every release of IESDesk, newest first.
Improved
- You can drop a file on each one-file tool: IES View, LDT View, Diagrams, Report sheets, ULOR, BUG Rating and UGR Table. Compare takes 2 or 3 dropped files. A warning tells you why a drop is refused.
- When you are signed in, the home page still shows, with a "Your files" button.
- The export check is faster: 500 edited files take 5 seconds, not 7.
Version 0.19.0
Improved
- The examples on the Diagrams page and the Features page also show the beam look of the cone diagram.
Version 0.18.0

- The dark theme is easier to read in the edit grid, the dialogs, the 3D view, Your files and the Learn pages.
- The error pages follow your choice of the light or the dark theme.
- The Account page shows your account and your report sheet branding. The other account links are in the top menu.
- On a phone, the result tables of ULOR, BUG Rating and Report sheets jobs scroll sideways, so each row stays short.
Fixed
- The 3D view keeps drawing on a busy phone that scrolls while the page loads.
- A limit of one now reads "1 file" and "1 job", not "1 files" and "1 jobs".
Version 0.17.0
New
- One top menu on every page holds Features, Tools, Learn and, after you sign in, Your files.
- A switch in the top menu changes the theme to light or dark. The browser keeps your choice.
- Your files lists every batch and every job in one place, newest first, with the next step on each row. It is the first page after you sign in.
- One Edit upload takes IES and LDT files in one drop and makes one batch for each format. The Diagrams upload does the same.
- The public Edit pages for IES and LDT files explain bulk editing before you sign up.
- The Diagrams page shows one small example of each diagram.
- The UGR Table warns you when a luminaire is symmetric in one direction only.
Improved
- Each tool has one name in the top menu, the page headings and the browser tabs.
- IES View and LDT View each open both formats.
- On Report sheets, you choose the sheet type: Area and road, Floodlight or Indoor. A sample sheet of each type opens in one click.
- The beam look of the cone diagram draws beams up to 60 degrees, not 45.
- The "Made with IESDesk" line on a report sheet links to iesdesk.com.
Fixed
- IESDesk refuses a file with an impossible candela value or angle, and tells you why. Before, some pages showed an error page.
- The Learn pages cite the correct sections of CIE 121 for the length of an LDT luminaire.
Version 0.16.0
New
- The cone diagram has a beam look for spotlights. It shows the beam from the side, with each value in metres and feet. Choose it with "Cone look" on IES View, LDT View and Diagrams.
Fixed
- The UGR Table refuses a damaged file with a clear message. Before, some damaged files gave a wrong table.
Version 0.15.0

- Report sheets makes a one-page PDF report sheet for one IES or LDT file, in A4 or Letter. IESDesk keeps no copy of the file.

- Your logo, your name and a footer line can go on your report sheets. Add them on the Account page.
- A batch makes report sheets from your edited files.
